Q. I’m starting to see political yard signs — are there local elections coming up?

Indeed. In March 2024, voters will have a chance to pick their party’s nominee for a dozen Hamilton County offices. On March 5, in addition to casting ballots for the Republican and Democratic nominees for U.S. president, residents can vote in the primary elections for the following Hamilton County offices:

  • Hamilton County School Board, Districts 1, 2, 4, 7, 10 & 11

  • Lookout Mountain School Board (3 seats)

  • Assessor of Property

  • Criminal Court Judge, Division 2

  • County Commission, District 3

Wondering who is planning to run? You can see a list of everyone who has pulled papers (so far) to be on the ballot here. Candidates have until Dec. 14 to return petitions to the Hamilton County Election Commission in order to appear on the ballot in March.

Are you registered to vote? Check your voter registration status here. The deadline to register to vote is February 4. You can register here if you aren’t registered.
