$16.9 million for sewers, CPD violent crime consultant

A number of contracts and agreements, from sewer upgrades to roof repairs, fill up the June 17 City Council agenda. Here are a few to know.

Wastewater contracts

Council approved four wastewater contracts totaling about $16.9 million. Projects include pump station improvements and sewer line and manhole repairs.

Crime reduction contract

A $60,000 consulting contract for CPD was approved. CAP Index, a crime risk research firm, will study the effect of local crime reduction programs, such as conflict resolution workshops and job fairs for teens. Funded by a federal grant, the project will also track data on firearm incidents, the impact of violence interrupters, and more to improve violent crime response.

Litter pickup

Mayor Kelly received approval to sign an agreement with Hamilton County for community service litter pickup on city streets. The program would cost the city $60,000 over the next year.
