$300K more for city wireless plan

Council approved a three-month, $300,000 extension to the city’s phone and cell service contract with Verizon Wireless. The contract will total about $2.1 million this year.

Chattanooga is following the state, which extended a Verizon contract that’s made available to local governments.

City insurance cost increase

A $287,000 increase to a city insurance contract with Blue Cross-Blue Shield was approved, brining the contract to $887,000 this year.

The coverage allows the city to get reimbursed if an individual employee’s health care costs are extraordinarily high.
