Tax rate public hearing
A public hearing on Mayor Tim Kelly’s proposed $1.93 tax rate drew a standing-room-only crowd to begin the Council meeting. Get a full recap with the story below:
On Aug. 26, Council members will hold their first vote on the mayor’s proposal and a competing tax plan put forward by Councilmen Chip Henderson, District 1, and Jeff Davis, District 3.
Coolidge Park grant
Parks & Outdoors received approval to apply for a $100,000 state grant for the Coolidge Park Live & Electric Project, which would help fund a permanent stage and electronics for park performances.
Sports Authority appt.
Council confirmed Ronika Bryant’s appointment to the joint city and Hamilton County Sports Authority Board. Board members manage financing for the new Lookouts stadium.
More funds for city hall annex
A $180,000 increase to a contract for renovating the city hall annex on 11th Street was approved. The added cost is for windows, weatherproofing, and bathroom accessibility, and the full contract totals $2.1 million.
