What's going on with the riverfront lights?
Have you seen the massive, stainless steel pillars illuminating the Chattanooga Pier at night? It turns out they're not built to withstand wind gusts whipping down the Tennessee River. On Nov. 14, Chattanooga City Council confirmed a recommendation to remove them given the exorbitant cost of needed repairs. Built by renowned artist James Carpenter in 2005, the "Luminous Light Masts" formed the artistic centerpiece of the Ross's Landing redevelopment in the early 2000s.
