Why can't I request brush pickup with 311 anymore?

It’s been nine months since Chattanooga 311 changed the way it picks up brush, bulky trash, and bags of leaves off people’s curbs.

Nine months ago Chattanooga 311 changed the way it picks up brush, bulky trash, and bags of leaves off people’s curbs. Before, you had to request a pickup, but now, brush is collected on a set schedule in each neighborhood.

Tips

Brush should only be natural wood like branches and hedge clippings, not 2x4s or pallets. Bulky trash can be heavy appliances, furniture, and mattresses, but 311 won’t collect bricks, drywall, tires, or glass. See a full list of non-acceptable items here

You can also deposit brush at the city’s Wood Recycling Center at 4063 N. Hawthorne St. At the center, residents who live within city limits can receive free wood mulch with a valid ID.

Here's an overview of how 311 and other city services work.
